AT A GLANCE
OAT ACADEMY GIVING
EQUIPMENT
Urban High School athletes often on boys/girls track teams contend with old and dilapidated equipment. As a hurdle technician, professional, stable hurdles change the outcome of hurdling performance with proper training.
ATHLETES
Due to poor quality sprinting/running shoes, young urban athletes deal with shin splints, falling arches, and stressed/pulled muscles hampering their fullest performance. These are temporary fixes to get athletes through a track season.
HOMELESSNESS
We have found families and athletes in need of food due to uncontrolled circumstances leading to a lack of adequate nutrition. We have provided food for low-income families in the community and athletes.
TUTORING
Our motto is " Succeeding in Academics and Sports." Athletes are students first, and then, athletes. We provide virtual and face-to-face tutoring for athletes and other students needing support. This year is the first time we have a bilingual tutor in light of a high Spanish-speaking population.
TRACK MEETS
Due to the rise of injuries, heat illnesses, and dehydration, we are acutely aware of the athletes keeping their bodies properly hydrated.
